Question:

Why doesn't the Multilingual work in WinCE properly?

Answer:

To get the multilingual to work in WinCE you need to install a unicode font with the same character set used for editing strings in Movicon. For example, if you are using the "Tamil" (0B80-0BFF) character set, there should be at least one font which uses this character set in WinCE.

(To get the latest various unicode codes used go to the  http://www.unicode.org/charts/ website)

Each unicode character is identified by a word where the first two hexadecimal figures indicate the character set and the second two hexadecimal figures identify the character type. Notepad, when you have to display a unicode character, display the character by using the first unicode font which supports that character set. Which is the same thing Movicon or MovXCE does when having to display unicode characters as  texts for controls.

String table editing can be done in Movicon by using:

  1. a keyboard which uses certain character sets (if you are able to find one on the market)

  2. the Windows character map tool

  3. the "Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator" program which allows you to create virtual keyboard software by choosing which unicode character to insert for each key
