Question:

Why does the Windows interface freeze after changing the system's language?

Answer:

Executing a Windows keyboard language change, using the Windows "Language Bar", may freeze the user interface. This problem shows when the following conditions exist:

  1. Windows XP is the operating system being used

  2. The "Install files for East Asian Languages" option in the "Languages" tab has been activated in the Windows Control Panel's  "Regional and language option" settings

WORKAROUND:

To remedy this problem just select the "Extend support for advanced text services to all programs" option found in the "Advanced" settings from the "Text Services and Input Languages" window ("Regional and language option - Languages - Details").

NOTE:

Windows VISTA does not have this problem and does not have the option indicated in the Workaround.
